How to value a horse

The six million dollar question!

There are so many variables that go into making up the value of a horse. We are often asked for advice regarding this but it is simply to difficult for the Society or its representatives to accurately advise.   We can however list some of the many important factors to consider:

  • Age

  • Gender

  • Conformation

  • Movement

  • Breeding (Dam, Sire Book of registration)

  • Keuring results

  • Training

  • Market conditions

  • Reproductive ability

  • Registration status

One of the best ways to assess the value of a horse is to investigate comparable horses currently on the market.  You can do this by browsing our For Sale section and by looking into other avenues of sale ie. horse websites, magazines, social media pages etc.

If you have a particular question you require assistance with, perhaps you have found a horse to buy and want to check its registered status or approximate fair and comparable price please contact us.
